Approximately 70–80% of the role is dedicated to clinical responsibilities, with 20–30% focused on leadership, mentoring, hospital operations, and strategic development.
The position offers a competitive base salary of $150,000–$165,000 annually, plus production-based earnings, along with enhanced sign-on incentives and relocation assistance.

Responsibilities
The Chief of Staff will be responsible for:
Leadership Responsibilities
Providing clinical and operational leadership for the veterinary team
Mentoring, coaching, and developing Associate Veterinarians
Supporting recruitment, onboarding, and professional development
Working alongside hospital leadership to improve operational efficiency and productivity
Creating and maintaining veterinarian schedules
Leading hospital meetings and fostering open communication
Promoting a collaborative, positive workplace culture
Supporting hospital budgeting, planning, and business performance
Ensuring compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements
Driving continuous improvement in patient care and client service
Clinical Responsibilities
Providing comprehensive preventative and medical care for companion animals
Performing physical examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, and surgery
Delivering evidence-based veterinary medicine
Building long-term relationships with clients through compassionate communication
Educating clients on preventative healthcare and wellness programmes
Prescribing medications and administering vaccines
Maintaining accurate medical records
Leading the daily clinical caseload while supporting veterinary nurses and support staff
Addressing complex medical cases and client concerns
Upholding the highest standards of patient care and medical ethics
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent
Active veterinary licence or eligibility for licensure in Missouri
Minimum of two years of clinical veterinary experience
One to three years of experience mentoring or developing veterinarians
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills
Proven surgical competency in routine veterinary procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Strong organisational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
