About the Role
An exciting leadership opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Director, Head Veterinary Surgeon or Senior Veterinary Surgeon ready to progress into a leadership position in Newcastle upon Tyne.
This permanent role offers a salary of £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, alongside flexible full-time or part-time working arrangements. It is an excellent opportunity for a clinically confident Veterinary Surgeon who wants to combine hands-on practice with team leadership, clinical development and strategic involvement.
The successful candidate will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, developing the veterinary team and shaping the future direction of the practice.
About the Practice
The role is based within an established small animal first opinion veterinary group in Newcastle upon Tyne, supported by an experienced team of Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs, SVNs, Patient Care Assistants and reception colleagues.
The team benefits from strong clinical support and an established leadership structure, creating an environment where colleagues can share knowledge, develop their skills and continually improve patient and client care.
The practice is well equipped with in-house biochemistry, haematology, digital X-ray and ultrasound, with further investment in dental radiography underway.
They are looking for a forward-thinking leader who can build on the existing strengths of the team while helping develop the practice as a centre of clinical excellence.
Responsibilities
Lead, motivate and inspire the veterinary team, promoting exceptional clinical standards and a culture of continuous improvement.
Provide high-quality clinical care in accordance with current best practice and RCVS guidelines.
Work closely with the Practice Manager on clinical standards, strategic planning and service development.
Support the management and development of the veterinary team through regular check-ins, competency assessments and performance discussions.
Contribute to salary discussions and rota planning alongside the Practice Manager.
Participate in business performance activities, including budgeting, financial planning and optimisation of client services.
Confidently manage a varied caseload incorporating medicine, surgery and emergency cases.
Introduce and encourage progressive medical and surgical techniques where appropriate.
Mentor Veterinary Surgeons and support the wider clinical team in developing their skills and confidence.
Build strong relationships with clients through excellent communication and compassionate patient care.
Help shape the future clinical direction of the practice and identify opportunities for continued improvement.
Candidate Profile
They are seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with strong clinical capability and proven or developing leadership skills.
