A veterinary practice is seeking a Full-Time Emergency Veterinarian to join its established small animal emergency team in Durham, North Carolina.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency and urgent veterinary care for small animal patients.

  • Assess, triage and stabilize patients presenting with acute and critical conditions.

  • Diagnose and manage a diverse emergency caseload.

  • Develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.

  • Perform emergency procedures and interventions appropriate to clinical experience.

  • Monitor hospitalized and critically ill patients.

  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options and prognosis.

  • Collaborate closely with veterinary technicians, support staff and other veterinary professionals.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient medical records.

  • Provide compassionate support to clients during challenging and time-sensitive situations.

  • Maintain high standards of veterinary medicine, ethics and patient safety.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will have:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalent veterinary qualification.

  • A current veterinary license or eligibility to practice in North Carolina.

  • A strong interest in emergency and urgent care veterinary medicine.

  • Confidence working within a fast-paced and varied clinical environment.

  • Strong diagnostic, triage and clinical decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent communication and client service skills.

  • A collaborative and team-oriented approach.
