The hospital provides the resources required to manage a diverse emergency caseload, including access to ultrasound, digital radiography, laboratory diagnostics, emergency surgery and endoscopic procedures.

Responsibilities
Assess and treat emergency and critical care patients efficiently while maintaining excellent clinical standards.
Perform comprehensive physical examinations and obtain relevant patient histories, presenting complaints and vital signs.
Develop appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic plans using resources including ultrasound, X-ray, blood testing and biopsy procedures.
Communicate diagnoses, treatment recommendations, prognoses and associated costs clearly and compassionately with pet owners.
Perform minor and major emergency soft tissue surgical procedures appropriate to clinical competency.
Perform endoscopic procedures where required.
Respond to medical questions and provide appropriate veterinary guidance by telephone.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive and timely medical records.
Educate owners regarding aftercare, medication, ongoing treatment and preventative healthcare where appropriate.
Provide compassionate end-of-life care and support when required.
Work collaboratively with veterinary colleagues and support staff to provide efficient, patient-centred emergency care.
Candidate Profile
Applicants must hold a DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and meet the applicable veterinary licensing requirements for the position.
Candidates should have a strong passion for emergency and critical care medicine, including an interest or experience in emergency soft tissue surgery and endoscopy.
The successful veterinarian will be comfortable working within a fast-paced clinical environment and communicating with pet owners during potentially stressful and emotionally challenging situations.
Strong teamwork, empathy, curiosity and professional accountability are important qualities for this position.
Candidates must be available to work rotating nights, weekends and holidays according to hospital requirements.
The position also requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods, kneel and work at floor level, independently lift up to approximately 25 kg and assist with patients weighing up to approximately 40 kg.
