About the Practice
This established equine veterinary practice in West Michigan provides comprehensive care for a diverse range of horses, including English hunter/jumper horses, Western performance horses, and beloved companion animals.
The practice offers both ambulatory services and in-hospital care, supported by an experienced team of equine veterinarians, technicians, and support staff.
The hospital provides opportunities to perform a variety of procedures, including routine elective surgeries, gelding procedures, and select orthopaedic and sports medicine cases.
The team fosters a family-oriented, collaborative culture where veterinarians share knowledge, discuss cases openly, and support one another in delivering excellent patient care.
A Junior Associate pathway is available, providing additional support and mentorship for newer veterinarians as they build confidence before progressing into a full Associate Veterinarian role.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive equine veterinary care, including examinations, diagnostics, treatment planning, and preventative medicine.
Perform ambulatory appointments and hospital-based consultations.
Conduct diagnostic procedures, medical treatments, and surgical procedures as appropriate.
Communicate effectively with clients, providing education and guidance regarding treatment options.
Maintain accurate medical records and follow veterinary protocols.
Prescribe medications and manage pharmacy responsibilities in line with controlled substance requirements.
Collaborate with veterinary colleagues, technicians, and support staff to maintain excellent patient care standards.
Participate in case discussions, hospital rounds, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support a positive team culture through communication, collaboration, and shared knowledge.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
A current veterinary licence in Michigan.
DEA registration or eligibility to obtain and maintain registration.
At least 1 year of veterinary practice experience preferred.
Strong diagnostic and clinical abilities.
Excellent surgical skills and confidence managing equine cases.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
A commitment to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care.
The ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
