About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for an Experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, offering a salary from £65,000 depending on experience.
This role is particularly suited to an experienced vet who enjoys supporting colleagues and would be keen to mentor a new graduate Veterinary Surgeon through their Graduate Development Programme.
The position is full-time with genuine flexibility, with part-time and term-time working arrangements also considered. The rota includes 1 in 4 weekends with no out-of-hours commitments.
The practice takes a considered approach to veterinary care. 15-minute consultations are standard, but clinicians are encouraged to take additional time when a case requires it.
About the Practice
This is a genuinely collaborative small animal practice on the edge of the Peak District, offering an environment where Veterinary Surgeons can focus on delivering high-quality clinical care without unnecessary commercial pressure.
The team actively avoids a hierarchical culture and places emphasis on teamwork, mutual support and allowing colleagues to work in a way that suits them.

The clinical team includes 3 highly capable RVNs, who make full use of their Schedule 3 skills, alongside a strong hands-on support team.

The practice also sees a range of exotic patients, providing additional variety for Veterinary Surgeons who enjoy working with different species.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality small animal veterinary care.
Conduct consultations and manage a varied caseload.
Perform routine medical and surgical procedures.
Take appropriate time to investigate and manage more complex cases.
Support and mentor a new graduate Veterinary Surgeon through their GDP.
Share clinical knowledge and experience with colleagues.
Work closely with the RVN and support teams.
Provide clear, compassionate advice to clients.
Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
Contribute to a positive and inclusive team culture.
Support exotic cases where appropriate and according to clinical interests.
Participate in the 1 in 4 weekend rota.
