This position is ideal for a board-certified Veterinary Surgeon (ACVS Diplomate) or residency-trained surgeon eligible for certification, with a strong interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery.

The role offers a diverse surgical caseload, including both emergency and elective procedures, with opportunities to develop and expand advanced surgical services such as orthopaedics, sports medicine, and rehabilitation-focused care.

The surgeon will join a collaborative, specialist-led environment with strong technical and clinical support, allowing for a focus on high-quality surgical outcomes and advanced case management.

About the Practice

This is a large, modern emergency and specialty veterinary hospital in Swansea, Massachusetts, providing 24/7 care across emergency medicine, internal medicine, and multiple specialty disciplines.

The hospital operates from a recently renovated 36,000 sq. ft. facility, equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical technology and designed to support complex referral-level care.

Specialty services include surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology, cardiology, dermatology, and radiation oncology, with further expansion planned.

The hospital features a strong collaborative network through its partnership with a sister specialty facility, enabling extensive case sharing, multidisciplinary collaboration, and advanced clinical support.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a wide range of orthopaedic and soft tissue surgical procedures

  • Manage elective and emergency surgical caseloads

  • Provide perioperative care and advanced case management

  • Contribute to multidisciplinary treatment planning discussions

  • Support clinical mentorship and knowledge sharing within the hospital

  • Maintain high standards of surgical quality, safety, and outcomes

  • Engage in complex case review and advanced diagnostics

  • Work closely with a highly skilled technical and ICU nursing team

Candidate Profile

  • Board-certified Veterinary Surgeon (ACVS Diplomate) or residency-trained, eligible for certification

  • Eligible for veterinary licensure in Massachusetts

  • Strong interest and experience in orthopaedic surgery preferred
