Responsibilities
Provide high-quality preventative, medical and surgical care to feline patients.
Perform comprehensive examinations, diagnose illnesses and injuries, develop treatment plans and communicate recommendations clearly with pet owners.
Operate diagnostic equipment, collect appropriate samples and interpret laboratory and diagnostic results.
Perform surgical procedures and prescribe medications in accordance with individual patient needs.
Educate clients on preventative healthcare, treatment options and ongoing feline wellness.
Provide compassionate guidance regarding chronic disease management and end-of-life care.
Maintain accurate and complete patient medical records while ensuring compliance with veterinary ethics, regulations, policies and clinical standards.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should hold a DVM or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited institution and hold, or be eligible to obtain, appropriate Louisiana veterinary licensure.
Candidates should also be eligible to obtain the necessary DEA and controlled-substance registrations.
A genuine interest in feline medicine and feline-specific patient care is highly desirable. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients are essential.
The successful candidate will be professional, compassionate and comfortable working collaboratively with veterinarians and support staff.
Candidates should also be able to lift patients and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance.
