About the Role

The successful Head RVN will rotate across theatre, wards and nurse consultations, while also supporting a specialist team that includes diplomates, certificate holders and advanced certificate-holding Veterinary Surgeons.

About the Practice
The role is based within a modern, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital in South West London, providing a highly advanced clinical environment and a diverse caseload.
The hospital is equipped with an impressive range of diagnostic and therapeutic technology, including MRI, CT, Karl Storz endoscopy, advanced ultrasound, DR X-ray, Adaptix and K-Laser.
The nursing team is encouraged to work to the full scope of the RVN role, with an emphasis on hands-on nursing, clinical confidence and continuous learning.
The hospital supports a highly experienced clinical team, including certificate-holding Veterinary Surgeons, diplomates and advanced certificate-holding clinicians, providing excellent opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care across theatre, wards and consultations.
Rotate through different clinical areas to support a varied caseload.
Assist specialist and advanced certificate-holding Veterinary Surgeons.
Monitor anaesthesia and support surgical procedures.
Provide comprehensive inpatient and post-operative care.
Deliver nurse consultations and clinical procedures.
Support the effective running of the nursing team.
Maintain consistently high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
Contribute to clinical leadership and mentoring within the nursing team.
Support colleagues in developing their clinical skills.
Participate in CPD and ongoing professional development.
Progress towards additional management responsibilities where appropriate.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Head Registered Veterinary Nurse who:
Holds current RCVS registration.
Has strong experience within small animal veterinary practice.
Is confident across theatre, wards and consultations.
Has excellent anaesthesia, surgical and inpatient nursing skills.
Demonstrates strong leadership and communication abilities.
Enjoys working alongside specialists and advanced clinicians.
Is passionate about developing colleagues and improving clinical standards.
Has a proactive approach to CPD and professional development.
Is interested in progressing towards nursing management or leadership.
