Head Registered Veterinary Nurse
Location: London / South East
Schedule: Full Time (4 days per week, 10-hour shifts, 1 in 4 weekends)
Salary: Up to £43,000 per year DOE
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a progressive, award-winning small animal practice. This role is ideal for an experienced RVN looking to take the next step into leadership while remaining hands-on clinically.
The successful candidate will work within a busy and varied caseload, including orthopaedics, TPLOs, fracture repairs, complex medical cases, and laparoscopic procedures. The position offers the opportunity to develop and focus on areas of interest such as surgery, anaesthesia, wards, or intensive care, while playing a key role in shaping and leading the nursing team.

Responsibilities
Lead and support the nursing team, promoting high clinical standards
Deliver hands-on nursing care across surgical, medical, and emergency cases
Assist with advanced procedures including orthopaedics and laparoscopic surgery
Oversee patient care, ensuring exceptional welfare and outcomes
Support training, mentoring, and development of nursing colleagues
Contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
Candidate Profile
RCVS registered Veterinary Nurse
Previous experience in a senior or leadership nursing role (or ready to step up)
Strong clinical skills across a range of nursing disciplines
Confident in handling emergency and critical care cases
Excellent communication and leadership abilities
Passionate about patient care, team development, and clinical progression
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Up to £43,000 DOE
4-day working week (10-hour shifts)
1 in 4 weekend rota (management on-call) and 2 bank holidays per year
Shift patterns between 7:30am–5:30pm or 10:30am–8:30pm
