Working closely with the Medical Director, the Lead Emergency Veterinarian will play a key role in developing doctors, supporting hospital initiatives, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care and client experience are consistently delivered.
This position is ideal for an experienced emergency veterinarian seeking greater leadership responsibility while continuing to practice high-quality emergency medicine.

Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
Assess, diagnose, and treat emergency and critical care patients
Perform emergency medical and surgical procedures
Develop diagnostic and treatment plans for emergency cases
Communicate effectively with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses
Provide exceptional patient care and client service
Maintain accurate and detailed medical records
Support emergency triage and urgent patient assessments
Leadership Responsibilities
Mentor and coach emergency veterinarians to support clinical growth and development
Promote medical excellence and adherence to hospital protocols
Lead doctor meetings and clinical case reviews
Support the implementation of clinical initiatives and quality improvement programmes
Assist with doctor scheduling and coverage coordination
Address client concerns involving medical cases
Support onboarding and development of new veterinarians
Serve as interim clinical leader when required
Partner with hospital leadership to promote a positive and collaborative culture
Candidate Profile
DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree
Minimum 2 years of emergency veterinary experience
Strong emergency and critical care case management skills
Experience in emergency surgery and endoscopy preferred
Previous leadership experience preferred but not required
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to mentor and develop fellow veterinarians
Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
Comfortable balancing clinical and administrative responsibilities
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced emergency environment
