Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Medical Excellence

  • Lead and mentor the veterinary team while establishing high standards of patient care

  • Oversee clinical decision-making and promote evidence-based medicine

  • Ensure consistent quality of care across wellness, preventative medicine, surgery, dentistry, anaesthesia, and hospitalised patient care

  • Develop and maintain medical protocols and standard operating procedures

  • Review medical records and provide constructive feedback to support clinical excellence

  • Encourage continuous learning through continuing education, research, and knowledge sharing

  • Support implementation of medical initiatives throughout the practice

Team Leadership & Development

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to associate veterinarians

  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives

  • Conduct regular team meetings and one-on-one development conversations

  • Help create an environment of collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth

  • Support workflow improvements and efficient hospital operations

  • Partner with the Hospital Director to strengthen team performance and engagement

Client Experience & Community Relationships

  • Promote a client-focused approach centred on trust, empathy, and communication

  • Support veterinarians in delivering clear treatment recommendations and exceptional client experiences

  • Build meaningful relationships with clients and the local community

  • Help ensure efficient patient flow and high standards of service

Operational & Financial Partnership

  • Collaborate with leadership teams to achieve medical and operational goals

  • Review performance metrics, financial reports, and opportunities for improvement

  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and hospital growth initiatives

  • Encourage best practices around compliance, documentation, and charge capture

  • Partner on decisions regarding equipment, services, medications, and hospital improvements

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent from an accredited veterinary school

  • Active veterinary licence in Washington State and good professional standing

  • 7+ years of veterinary practice experience preferred

  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or management experience preferred

  • Strong clinical skills and confidence in medical decision-making

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

  • A passion for developing veterinary teams and improving patient outcomes
