The Medical Director will have significant autonomy to influence the hospital's clinical protocols, team culture and overall direction while receiving operational and business support. The position combines hands-on veterinary medicine with mentoring, team development, financial oversight and strategic leadership.

Responsibilities
Provide high-quality small animal veterinary medicine
Lead the hospital's clinical operations and standards of care
Develop and maintain appropriate clinical protocols
Mentor and support Associate Veterinarians
Coach and develop veterinary and support team members
Promote preventative medicine and low-stress patient handling
Ensure compliance with veterinary regulations and professional standards
Maintain an excellent client and patient experience
Build strong, long-term relationships with clients
Collaborate on recruitment, training and team scheduling
Contribute to hospital planning and strategic development
Participate in budgeting and financial performance reviews
Monitor operational and clinical performance
Use technology to improve communication and client engagement
Help shape the hospital's culture and future development
Represent the practice positively within the local community
Candidate Profile
Candidates should hold a DVM, VMD or equivalent veterinary qualification and possess, or be eligible to obtain, New York State veterinary licensure.
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
At least 4–5 years of clinical veterinary experience
Previous leadership or team management experience
Strong small animal clinical capabilities
Excellent client communication skills
