About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Medical Director in the Upper West Side, Manhattan, New York to lead clinical operations while continuing to provide high-quality primary and urgent veterinary care.

Responsibilities
Provide high-quality primary and urgent veterinary care
Lead and maintain excellent clinical and patient-care standards
Mentor Associate Veterinarians through coaching, feedback, and regular case discussions
Work collaboratively with practice management on clinical and operational performance
Lead regular veterinarian and wider team meetings
Promote a positive, collaborative, and high-performing workplace culture
Develop and implement clinical protocols and practice guidelines
Support performance improvement and professional development initiatives
Create and maintain veterinary schedules that balance practice and team requirements
Participate in veterinary recruitment and talent acquisition
Maintain an excellent client experience and support the resolution of complex concerns
Ensure compliance with relevant veterinary, DEA, and state regulations
Promote the safety of patients, clients, and team members
Monitor and continuously improve veterinary quality standards
Represent the practice positively within the wider veterinary community
Candidate Profile
Candidates should hold a DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary medical degree and be licensed or eligible for veterinary licensure in New York State.
DEA licensure and relevant controlled substance certification should also be held or obtainable where required.
The ideal candidate will have 3–5+ years of clinical veterinary experience, with at least one year of leadership experience preferred.
