Responsibilities
In addition to delivering veterinary care as an Associate Veterinarian, the Medical Director will:
Ensure delivery of high-quality, safe, and client-centred veterinary care
Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to associate veterinarians
Conduct regular coaching, feedback sessions, and case discussions
Lead and participate in performance improvement processes
Develop and implement clinical protocols and hospital guidelines
Partner with clinic management to ensure operational and clinical success
Support recruitment and hiring of veterinary team members
Oversee doctor scheduling and workload distribution
Handle client concerns and support an excellent client experience
Foster a strong, positive, and inclusive team culture
Ensure compliance with all regulatory and professional standards
Promote patient safety and clinical quality across all services
Act as a representative of the clinic within the wider veterinary community
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be a confident and experienced Veterinary Medical Leader with strong clinical and interpersonal skills.
You will have:
DVM/VMD or equivalent veterinary qualification
Active or eligible veterinary licence in Massachusetts
3–5+ years of clinical veterinary experience (preferred)
1+ year of leadership or supervisory experience (preferred)
Strong interest in team development and clinical excellence
Excellent communication and conflict management skills
Strong business awareness and understanding of clinical operations
Ability to mentor and develop other veterinarians
Commitment to high standards of patient care and client service
