Responsibilities
Provide high-quality small animal medicine while maintaining an active clinical caseload.
Lead, mentor and support associate veterinarians within the practice.
Conduct regular performance and development discussions with veterinary team members.
Help veterinarians establish and achieve individual clinical and professional goals.
Set and maintain high standards for medicine, patient care and client service.
Partner with practice management to support operational and financial performance.
Lead regular veterinarian meetings covering clinical standards, best practices and new services.
Support structured mentorship and veterinary externship programmes.
Promote collaboration, engagement and retention across the veterinary team.
Ensure appropriate compliance with medical, professional and DEA requirements.
Support recruitment and development of veterinary talent.
Represent the practice professionally through appropriate community engagement.
Contribute to continued improvements in clinical quality, efficiency and patient outcomes.
Candidate Profile
Applicants should hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree with a valid New York veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain one.
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of practical clinical experience and demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality small animal medicine.
Previous leadership experience would be advantageous, although veterinarians with strong mentoring abilities and the ambition to progress into formal clinical leadership are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, alongside the ability to build collaborative relationships across clinical and operational teams.
An understanding of veterinary practice operations and financial performance would be beneficial, although development and training are available.
The role is particularly suited to an experienced veterinarian who enjoys coaching other DVMs, developing clinical standards and creating a positive team culture while remaining actively involved in patient care.
