A leading 24/7 specialty and emergency veterinary hospital in Omaha, Nebraska is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian (overnight or swing shift available) to join a rapidly growing, high-acuity clinical team.

About the Practice

This is Nebraska’s only full-time, state-of-the-art specialty and emergency veterinary hospital, serving a broad regional referral base across Nebraska, Northern Kansas, South Dakota, and Western Iowa.

The hospital is currently expanding its emergency service with plans for a fully operational 24/7/365 emergency department, supported by a strong team of specialists and an established internship programme.

The clinical team includes board-certified specialists in:

  • Internal Medicine (2)

  • Surgery (1)

  • Emergency & Critical Care (1)

  • Neurology (1)

  • Oncology (1)

  • Diagnostic Imaging

The hospital features a 17,000+ sq. ft. modern facility with advanced capabilities, including:

  • 11 exam rooms and 4 operating theatres

  • Dedicated ICU with telemetry and long-term ventilation support

  • Comprehensive in-house laboratory diagnostics

  • Advanced imaging including CT, MRI, fluoroscopy, and digital radiography

  • Endoscopy (rigid and flexible), laparoscopy, arthroscopy

A highly skilled team of veterinary technicians, assistants, and client care staff ensures strong clinical support and efficient case management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency and critical care for small animal patients

  • Manage a diverse and fast-paced emergency caseload

  • Stabilise and treat acute medical and surgical cases

  • Collaborate closely with specialty departments including surgery, internal medicine, neurology, and oncology

  • Communicate effectively with clients during urgent and complex medical situations

  • Work within a shift-based rota including overnight and swing shifts

  • Contribute to case discussions, rounds, and continuous clinical improvement

  • Support students, interns, and junior clinicians in a teaching-focused environment

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent qualification holder

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Nebraska, USA

  • A board-certified, residency-trained, or developing emergency clinician

  • New graduates and veterinary students are encouraged to apply
