About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a friendly, supportive and clinically progressive small animal practice.
This is a part-time position, although a full-time arrangement may be considered for the right candidate. The role offers a competitive salary of £29,000–£35,000 pro rata, depending on experience, with no OOH and flexibility around working hours to support a healthy work-life balance.
Shifts typically run 8:00am–6:00pm or 10:00am–8:00pm, with the team aiming to limit each colleague to one late shift per week. Working hours can be tailored where possible to suit individual circumstances.
About the Practice
The practice provides a busy and varied small animal caseload, with a strong focus on compassionate patient care, thorough clinical workups and excellent client service.
The experienced nursing team includes RVNs with advanced qualifications and referral-centre experience, creating an excellent environment for sharing knowledge and developing clinical skills.
Nurses are actively involved across theatre, inpatients, wards, consultations and preparation, while the practice is also developing its nurse consultation offering.
Existing nurse clinics include laser therapy, weight management and behavioural consultations, with further services planned as the practice continues to develop.
The purpose-built, state-of-the-art facility provides a bright, clean and modern working environment, equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasonography and in-house laboratory facilities.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care across all areas of the practice.
Work across consultations, theatre, inpatient care and preparation.
Monitor and care for hospitalised patients.
Support Veterinary Surgeons with medical and surgical procedures.
Conduct nurse consultations and dedicated nurse clinics where appropriately trained.
Contribute to services including laser therapy, weight management and behavioural support.
Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.
Build strong relationships with clients and provide clear, compassionate advice.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and the wider practice team.
Contribute to the continued development of nursing services.
Participate in CPD and pursue further qualifications where appropriate.
Support less experienced colleagues and contribute to a positive learning culture.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse who is passionate about delivering excellent patient and client care.
They should be a confident communicator with strong organisational skills and the ability to thrive within a busy, dynamic and collaborative environment.
A genuine interest in professional development is important. The practice actively supports nurses who want to develop their skills, pursue certificates or undertake further education.
A Clinical Coach qualification is not essential, but enthusiasm for learning and supporting developing colleagues is important.
The successful candidate will also be keen to contribute to the wider practice and help develop the nursing service as the practice continues to grow.
