About the Role
An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a friendly, supportive and collaborative small animal practice in Ely, Cardiff.
This is a part-time position working 24–32 hours per week, with some flexibility around working patterns. The role offers a salary of £40,000–£55,000 FTE, depending on experience, alongside no out-of-hours and a manageable weekend rota.
The position would suit an experienced vet who enjoys a varied caseload and wants to work within a team that prioritises patient care, professional development and work-life balance.
Both surgery and consultation work are available, although a consults-only position could also be considered for the right candidate.

This modern, independently owned small animal practice is well established within the Ely, Cardiff community and has built a strong local reputation for high standards of patient care.
The experienced team includes 2 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Registered Veterinary Nurses, a Student Veterinary Nurse and a dedicated reception team.

The modern practice includes 4 spacious consulting rooms, a dedicated preparation area, fully equipped operating theatre, separate cat, dog and isolation wards, as well as a dedicated colleague kitchen.

Responsibilities
Provide high-quality veterinary care across a varied small animal caseload.
Conduct routine medical consultations and clinical assessments.
Perform routine surgical procedures appropriate to experience.
Develop strong and trusting relationships with clients and their pets.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and the wider practice team.
Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options and ongoing care.
Maintain high standards of clinical and patient care.
Work independently when required while contributing positively to the wider team.
Participate in CPD and ongoing professional development.
Contribute to a positive and supportive practice culture.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a UK small animal practice or hospital.
They should feel confident managing routine medical cases and carrying out routine surgery, while possessing excellent communication and teamwork skills.
The successful candidate will enjoy building long-term relationships with clients and their pets and will appreciate working within a supportive environment where colleagues are encouraged to continue developing their clinical skills.
A genuine commitment to continuing professional development is important, with opportunities available to pursue further qualifications and postgraduate certificates.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: £40,000–£55,000 FTE, dependent on experience
Part-time: 24–32 hours per week
1 in 3 Saturdays, 9:00am–1:00pm
No out-of-hours
Monday–Friday opening hours: 8:30am–6:30pm
5.6 weeks' holiday including bank holidays
Holiday increasing to 6.6 weeks after 2 years' service
