About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking a Veterinary Surgeon to join an experienced and supportive small animal team in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
This is a part-time position working 2 days per week, offering an excellent opportunity for a vet seeking a strong work-life balance while continuing to manage a varied and interesting clinical caseload.
The working days are 8:30am–7:00pm, with participation in a 1 in 6 weekend rota at a nearby 24-hour hospital and one Bank Holiday per year.
The caseload combines routine consultations and surgery with more complex medical and surgical cases. There is a particular focus on advanced soft tissue surgery, providing valuable development opportunities for vets interested in strengthening their surgical skills.
Salary: Up to £60,000 FTE DOE
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire
Schedule: 2 days per week, 8:30am–7:00pm; 1 in 6 weekends; one Bank Holiday per year

About the Practice
The practice operates from a purpose-built small animal clinic designed to provide a welcoming environment for clients, patients and the veterinary team.
It is a Cat Friendly Clinic, with an emphasis on providing calm, low-stress care for feline patients.
The clinical caseload is varied, ranging from routine first-opinion consultations and surgery through to more involved medical and surgical cases. A particular interest in advanced soft tissue surgery provides opportunities for Veterinary Surgeons looking to develop further in this area.
The wider clinical network includes access to a 24-hour hospital, internal clinical communities and additional professional development resources, allowing vets to collaborate with colleagues and continue developing their clinical interests.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality small animal consultations and surgical care
Managing routine and more complex medical and surgical cases
Developing appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans
Providing clear and compassionate communication to clients
Maintaining high standards of clinical governance and regulatory compliance
Building strong relationships with clients and their pets
Working collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and the wider clinical team
Contributing to consistently high standards of patient care
Sharing knowledge and supporting the development of colleagues
Participating in the 1 in 6 weekend rota and one Bank Holiday per year
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a qualified MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon with a passion for clinical excellence, patient welfare and excellent client care.
You should be comfortable managing a varied first-opinion caseload encompassing both consultations and surgery.
An interest in soft tissue surgery would be particularly beneficial, although ongoing development is supported through CPD, funded certificates and access to experienced colleagues.
Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential, alongside a collaborative approach and commitment to maintaining high clinical standards.
