We’re representing a well-established and highly respected independent accountancy practice based in Bury, Greater Manchester. With over 95 years of experience and a reputation for delivering trusted accountancy, audit, tax and business advisory services, the firm continues to grow and invest in its people.
Due to continued expansion, they are looking to recruit an Accounts Advisor to join their Accounts & Business Advisory team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accountant to manage a varied portfolio of clients, develop advisory skills, mentor junior colleagues, and work closely with senior leadership within a progressive and supportive practice.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders.
Prepare corporation tax computations, including capital allowance calculations.
Complete VAT returns using cloud accounting software, including Xero.
Undertake larger bookkeeping assignments and prepare management information where required.
Assist with audit assignments, completing allocated audit sections to a high standard.
Review bookkeeping, VAT returns and sole trader accounts prepared by junior team members.
Train, mentor and support junior colleagues, providing technical guidance and feedback.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted day-to-day point of contact.
Ensure client work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.
Support Managers, Associates and Directors in achieving departmental KPIs and client service objectives.
Identify opportunities to introduce additional services and contribute to wider business development initiatives.
Attend networking events and help strengthen relationships with existing and prospective clients.
Ideal Candidate Profile
ACA, ACCA or AAT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
Experience working within a UK accountancy practice.
Strong knowledge of UK GAAP and statutory accounts preparation.
Experience preparing corporation tax computations and VAT returns.
Good understanding of personal taxation and dividend taxation.
Proficient in cloud accounting software, particularly Xero.
Experience reviewing work and supporting the development of junior staff.
Excellent communication, organisational and client relationship management skills.
Commercially aware with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Able to manage multiple deadlines while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
