The Opportunity – Accounts and Audit Semi Senior / Senior in Rochdale

A well-established and fast-growing accountancy practice in Rochdale, Greater Manchester is seeking an Accounts and Audit Semi Senior / Senior to join their expanding team.

This is a mixed role (65% accounts / 35% audit), offering exposure to a diverse client base including SMEs, large corporates, and charities. The position is ideal for someone looking to progress their career within a supportive and ambitious firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of statutory accounts, including notes and disclosures (FRS102 knowledge advantageous)

  • Processing accounts and audit journals

  • Assisting with and managing audit assignments

  • Completing audit testing and reviewing audit work

  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members

  • Preparing corporation tax returns and capital allowance computations

  • Working on ad hoc assignments such as cashflow forecasts and due diligence

  • Liaising directly with clients and building strong relationships

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA part-qualified or newly qualified

  • Previous experience within an accountancy practice (audit and accounts)

  • Experience with charity audits is desirable

  • Strong understanding of accounting standards, auditing standards, and company law

  • Good knowledge of corporation tax (VAT and payroll knowledge beneficial)

  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills

  • Strong analytical ability and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines

  • Experience using Excel (knowledge of CCH, Pro-audit, or Mercia is advantageous)

  • A proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership of work
