Accounts Manager – Birkenhead (Accountancy Practice Role)
A leading UK and Ireland accountancy and advisory group is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Manager in Birkenhead to join its growing office-based team.

£50,000 – £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

The Opportunity
This Accounts Manager role in Birkenhead offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of owner-managed businesses while acting as a trusted advisor to clients across multiple sectors.
You will work closely with senior leadership, helping to maintain high service standards, manage workflow across the accounts team, and identify opportunities to further support clients through additional advisory services.
This role would suit an experienced Practice Accountant looking for a long-term position with genuine progression opportunities within a growing and supportive firm.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a portfolio of owner-managed business clients
Acting as the primary point of contact for client queries and advice
Reviewing statutory accounts prepared by the accounts team
Ensuring compliance with UK GAAP and statutory requirements
Reviewing corporation tax computations and liaising with tax specialists where required
Managing deadlines, workflow, and client expectations
Coaching and developing junior and semi-senior team members
Identifying opportunities to add value and cross-sell wider advisory services
Building and maintaining long-term client relationships
Requirements
ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent)
Previous experience managing a client portfolio within an accountancy practice
Strong technical knowledge of:
Statutory accounts
UK GAAP
Corporation tax compliance
Strong client relationship and communication skills
Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff
Organised, commercially aware, and able to manage multiple priorities
Proactive and collaborative approach to client service
