Audit Assistant Manager 

Location: Birmingham, West Midlands  
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000  
Contract: Full Time, Flexible working 

A well-established and forward-thinking accountancy practice is expanding its Audit division in Birmingham and seeking an experienced Audit Assistant Manager to join their growing team. The firm supports a wide range of clients across the Midlands and prides itself on delivering a high-quality, personal service while creating an environment where people can thrive and progress. 

The Role 

As an Audit Assistant Manager, you will play a key part in managing audit engagements, supporting junior team members, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality audit work. This role offers a strong blend of hands-on audit, client interaction, leadership responsibility, and opportunities to contribute to ongoing process improvements. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead audit assignments from planning through to completion 

  • Review work prepared by audit juniors and seniors 

  • Work closely with managers and partners to ensure an exceptional client experience 

  • Resolve technical queries and provide practical, compliant solutions 

  • Identify risks, issues and opportunities to improve audit efficiency 

  • Support the development and training of junior team members 

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with clients across a diverse portfolio 

About You 

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) with recent practice audit experience 

  • Proven experience leading audits and supervising staff 

  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and FRS 102 

  • Excellent communication skills and a confident, professional manner 

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and work to deadlines 

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car (travel to client sites required) 

  • Able to work from the office as part of a collaborative team
