The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver statutory audits from planning through to completion
  • Lead on-site audit teams and oversee fieldwork where required
  • Utilise digital audit tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight
  • Act as a primary point of contact for clients, handling queries and providing support
  • Review work completed by junior staff, offering coaching and constructive feedback
  • Collaborate with managers and partners to ensure high-quality audit delivery
  • Ensure assignments are completed in line with internal quality standards
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and audit process enhancements
  • Participate in internal meetings, sharing ideas to improve performance and delivery
  • Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through ongoing CPD
  • Travel to client sites across the North East and Yorkshire as required

Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Proven experience delivering and leading audits within practice
  • Experience working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail and strong technical accuracy
  • Proficient in Excel and audit-related software
  • Proactive and solutions-focused with strong problem-solving ability
  • Willingness to travel to client sites

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks Online, Xero)
  • Exposure to sectors such as charities, academies, or legal services
  • Familiarity with audit systems such as Iris, Caseware, or MyWorkPapers
