The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and deliver statutory audits from planning through to completion
- Lead on-site audit teams and oversee fieldwork where required
- Utilise digital audit tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and insight
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients, handling queries and providing support
- Review work completed by junior staff, offering coaching and constructive feedback
- Collaborate with managers and partners to ensure high-quality audit delivery
- Ensure assignments are completed in line with internal quality standards
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and audit process enhancements
- Participate in internal meetings, sharing ideas to improve performance and delivery
- Maintain up-to-date technical knowledge through ongoing CPD
- Travel to client sites across the North East and Yorkshire as required
Requirements
- ACA or ACCA qualified
- Proven experience delivering and leading audits within practice
- Experience working with SMEs and owner-managed businesses
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong technical accuracy
- Proficient in Excel and audit-related software
- Proactive and solutions-focused with strong problem-solving ability
- Willingness to travel to client sites
Desirable Skills
- Experience with cloud accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks Online, Xero)
- Exposure to sectors such as charities, academies, or legal services
- Familiarity with audit systems such as Iris, Caseware, or MyWorkPapers
