The Opportunity
Lead and develop the bookkeeping function within a growing practice
Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely financial records
Opportunity to mentor junior staff and implement best-in-class processes
Work closely with senior stakeholders to support wider accounting and advisory services
Ideal for an experienced bookkeeper ready to step into a supervisory role
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day bookkeeping activities across a varied client portfolio
Review and manage bookkeeping work including reconciliations, ledgers, and financial records
Ensure accurate and timely completion of VAT returns and compliance requirements
Provide management information to support client decision-making
Act as a key point of contact for clients, resolving queries and providing guidance
Support clients with cloud accounting software and digital processes
Train, mentor, and supervise junior bookkeeping staff
Implement and improve internal processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy
Liaise with the wider accounts and tax teams to ensure seamless service delivery
Requirements
Proven experience within a bookkeeping role in an accountancy practice
Strong technical knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, and financial processes
Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
Proficient in cloud accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Strong IT skills including Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability
Confident communicator with a client-focused approach
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Desirable Skills
AAT qualified or equivalent
Experience working with SME and owner-managed business clients
Exposure to process improvement or systems implementation
Experience delivering client training on bookkeeping systems
