About the Role
We are representing a fast-growing and award-winning accountancy practice based in Greater Manchester, recognised for delivering high-quality accounting, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Client Accountant to join their head office team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified practice professional looking to take ownership of a client portfolio, manage and develop team members, and play a key role in the ongoing success of a modern and ambitious firm. Key Responsibilities
Manage a portfolio of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships across a range of industries.
Prepare and review statutory accounts and financial statements.
Plan and oversee client compliance work, ensuring deadlines are met.
Manage workflow allocation and monitor team performance.
Supervise, mentor and develop bookkeepers, client managers and trainees.
Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact.
Liaise with HMRC and other external organisations on behalf of clients.
Review client records and ensure compliance with accounting and taxation regulations.
Attend management meetings and provide updates to senior leadership.
Handle client queries and provide proactive accounting and business advice.
Contribute to process improvements and support the continued growth of the practice.
Ideal Candidate Profile
ACA or ACCA qualified with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualified experience.
At least 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment.
Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, compliance requirements and taxation.
Experience managing client portfolios and supervising team members.
Proficient in Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext and cloud accounting systems.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Confident leading, training and developing junior team members.
