About the Role

We are representing a fast-growing and award-winning accountancy practice based in Greater Manchester, recognised for delivering high-quality accounting, taxation and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of clients. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Client Accountant to join their head office team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified practice professional looking to take ownership of a client portfolio, manage and develop team members, and play a key role in the ongoing success of a modern and ambitious firm. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of limited companies, sole traders and partnerships across a range of industries.

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts and financial statements.

  • Plan and oversee client compliance work, ensuring deadlines are met.

  • Manage workflow allocation and monitor team performance.

  • Supervise, mentor and develop bookkeepers, client managers and trainees.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a key point of contact.

  • Liaise with HMRC and other external organisations on behalf of clients.

  • Review client records and ensure compliance with accounting and taxation regulations.

  • Attend management meetings and provide updates to senior leadership.

  • Handle client queries and provide proactive accounting and business advice.

  • Contribute to process improvements and support the continued growth of the practice.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • ACA or ACCA qualified with a minimum of 2 years' post-qualified experience.

  • At least 5 years' experience working within an accountancy practice environment.

  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards, compliance requirements and taxation.

  • Experience managing client portfolios and supervising team members.

  • Proficient in Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Dext and cloud accounting systems.

  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Organised, proactive and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

  • Confident leading, training and developing junior team members.
