About the Role
We’re representing a well-established and growing independent accountancy practice based in Liverpool, known for delivering tailored tax and advisory services to a loyal SME and private client base. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Mixed Tax Assistant to join their tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in both personal and corporate tax to step into a varied, client-facing role, sitting between junior and manager level, with strong scope for progression and flexible/part-time working options.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare personal tax returns for a varied portfolio of individuals, partnerships and directors
Assist with corporation tax computations and corporate tax returns
Support tax compliance processes, ensuring deadlines are met in line with HMRC requirements
Liaise directly with clients, responding to tax queries and providing day-to-day support
Handle HMRC correspondence and assist with enquiries
Support tax planning work including basic advisory projects
Work closely with senior team members on more complex tax matters
Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with internal procedures
Ideal Candidate Profile
ATT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience (ACA/ACCA also considered)
2–4 years’ experience within an accountancy practice in a mixed tax role
Strong understanding of UK personal and corporate tax compliance
Experience using tax software and Microsoft Excel
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Proactive, adaptable and client-focused with strong attention to detail
Ability to manage workload independently while supporting the wider team
