About the Role
We’re representing a well-established and growing independent accountancy practice based in Liverpool, known for delivering tailored tax and advisory services to a loyal SME and private client base. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Mixed Tax Assistant to join their tax team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in both personal and corporate tax to step into a varied, client-facing role, sitting between junior and manager level, with strong scope for progression and flexible/part-time working options.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare personal tax returns for a varied portfolio of individuals, partnerships and directors

  • Assist with corporation tax computations and corporate tax returns

  • Support tax compliance processes, ensuring deadlines are met in line with HMRC requirements

  • Liaise directly with clients, responding to tax queries and providing day-to-day support

  • Handle HMRC correspondence and assist with enquiries

  • Support tax planning work including basic advisory projects

  • Work closely with senior team members on more complex tax matters

  • Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with internal procedures

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • ATT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience (ACA/ACCA also considered)

  • 2–4 years’ experience within an accountancy practice in a mixed tax role

  • Strong understanding of UK personal and corporate tax compliance

  • Experience using tax software and Microsoft Excel

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Proactive, adaptable and client-focused with strong attention to detail

  • Ability to manage workload independently while supporting the wider team
