Office Administrator / Bookkeeper – Chester (Accountancy Practice Role)
A well-established accountancy practice in Chester is looking to recruit an organised and proactive Office Administrator / Bookkeeper to join its growing team on a full-time basis.
This is a varied and hands-on role combining bookkeeping responsibilities with office administration support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy and collaborative office environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with the accounts and management team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients across multiple sectors.

The Opportunity
This Office Administrator / Bookkeeper role in Chester offers an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and professional team within a respected accountancy practice.
The role combines client bookkeeping duties with wider office administration responsibilities, providing strong variety and exposure across different business sectors.
This position would suit someone with previous bookkeeping experience who enjoys both client interaction and office coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
Processing:
Sales invoices
Purchase invoices
Bank reconciliations
Assisting with VAT returns and management accounts preparation
Supporting clients using cloud accounting software, particularly Xero
Managing general office administration duties including:
Filing
Document management
Handling correspondence
Answering telephone calls and assisting with client queries professionally
Supporting the wider accounts team with administrative tasks
Assisting with onboarding new clients and maintaining internal records
Liaising with clients to request information and ensure deadlines are met
Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Chester office
Requirements
Previous experience within bookkeeping and office administration
Experience within an accountancy practice would be advantageous
AAT qualified or qualified by experience preferred
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to manage workload effectively and meet deadlines
Comfortable working independently and within a team environment
Strong working knowledge of Xero is essential
Experience with Sage, QuickBooks, or CCH would be advantageous
