The Opportunity – Part Qualified Accountant in Manchester

A leading national accountancy and advisory firm is seeking a Part Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / AAT) to join its Manchester-based accounts team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant with practice experience to develop within a global professional services network, working with a varied client base including charities, partnerships, owner-managed businesses and limited companies.

The role offers strong exposure to statutory accounts, VAT, management reporting and tax work, alongside structured training and career progression.


Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of complex statutory accounts under FRS102, IFRS and Charities SORP
  • Review financial statements for charities, partnerships and limited companies
  • Prepare management accounts (monthly and quarterly) for a range of clients
  • Produce cash flow forecasts and financial reports

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and review VAT returns
  • Assist with preparation and review of corporation tax returns
  • Support tax team with ad hoc advisory work

Bookkeeping & Systems

  • Review bookkeeping work using systems such as Xero and Sage
  • Support clients with cloud accounting processes and system improvements

Client & Advisory Work

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships
  • Support client portfolio management alongside senior staff
  • Identify internal control weaknesses and suggest improvements
  • Assist with on-site client work and secondments

Team Development & Support

  • Support and mentor junior team members
  • Share technical knowledge and assist with training where required
  • Ensure work is completed to deadlines and quality standards

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA / AAT part qualified (depending on experience)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
  • Strong understanding of statutory accounts preparation
  • Knowledge of FRS102, IFRS and Charities SORP (basic to intermediate level)
  • Experience with Xero, Sage, Iris or CaseWare desirable
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Good communication skills and client-facing confidence
  • Motivated to progress within a structured training environment

Location

Based in Manchester, with potential client travel across the North West.
