The Role of Part-Time Payroll Assistant 

As a Payroll Assistant, you will support the Payroll Manager in delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a portfolio of clients.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working in a structured environment with a strong focus on accuracy and deadlines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the preparation and processing of weekly and monthly payrolls
  • Supporting with RTI submissions to HMRC
  • Processing starters, leavers, and payroll changes
  • Assisting with pension submissions and auto-enrolment duties
  • Handling payroll queries from clients and employees
  • Ensuring payroll data is accurate and compliant with legislation
  • Supporting general administrative tasks within the payroll team

Payroll & Client Exposure

This role offers experience across:

  • End-to-end payroll processing
  • Working with a varied client portfolio
  • Payroll compliance and HMRC submissions
  • Client communication and support

About You - Payroll Assistant Jobs Lincoln

The ideal candidate must have previous payroll experience and a strong attention to detail.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in payroll processing (practice or bureau experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of HMRC requirements and RTI submissions
  • Experience of CIS 
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Confident communication skills when dealing with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Arrangement

  • Based in Lincoln (office-based role)
  • 20–25 hours per week
  • Flexible working pattern available across the week
