The Opportunity – Personal Tax Manager in Chorley

A growing accountancy firm in Chorley, Lancashire is seeking a Personal Tax Manager to join their expanding tax team. This role offers exposure to a diverse client portfolio, including company directors, property owners, high-net-worth individuals, sole traders, and partnerships.

This position is ideal for an experienced tax professional looking to widen their experience, lead a team, and develop further within a supportive and ambitious firm.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of personal tax returns across multiple client types
  • Serve as first point of contact for clients and assist directors with ad hoc queries
  • Provide advice on Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, and potentially a portfolio of Trusts
  • Support other areas such as national insurance, overseas matters, and farmers averaging
  • Train and mentor students and junior staff
  • Provide ad hoc tax advice for the accounts team

Requirements

  • ACA, ACCA, CTA, or equivalent qualification preferred (qualified by experience considered)
  • Strong analytical and review skills
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to see projects through to completion
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrates integrity, professionalism, and eagerness to develop
  • Experience managing complex personal tax portfolios
  • Ability to coach and mentor junior team members
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to team growth
