The Opportunity – Qualified Accountant in Manchester

A leading international accountancy and advisory firm is seeking a Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / equivalent) to join its Manchester office accounts team.

This role offers exposure to a diverse and high-quality client portfolio, including charities, partnerships, limited companies and owner-managed businesses, alongside opportunities to contribute to advisory and value-added work.

The position is ideal for a qualified accountant looking to take ownership of client work, develop stronger client relationships, and progress within a global professional services environment.


Key Responsibilities

Accounts & Financial Reporting

  • Assist with preparation of complex statutory accounts under FRS102, IFRS and Charities SORP
  • Review statutory accounts for charities, partnerships and limited companies
  • Prepare and review management accounts (monthly and quarterly)
  • Produce cashflow forecasts and financial analysis reports

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and review VAT returns and corporation tax computations
  • Support tax team with advisory and compliance work
  • Assist with HMRC queries and technical tax matters

Bookkeeping & Systems

  • Review bookkeeping using Xero, Sage and other accounting systems
  • Support improvements in cloud accounting processes and controls

Client Management & Advisory

  • Act as a key contact for client relationships and portfolio support
  • Identify internal control weaknesses and recommend improvements
  • Support on-site client work and secondments where required
  • Liaise with other service lines to provide a joined-up client service

Team Leadership & Development

  • Coach and support junior team members
  • Provide guidance, feedback and informal training
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and best practice

Requirements

  • ACA / ACCA / AAT qualified (essential)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an accountancy practice
  • Strong understanding of statutory accounts preparation
  • Knowledge of FRS102, IFRS and Charities SORP
  • Experience using Xero, Sage, Iris or CaseWare
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Confident communicator with client-facing experience
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines independently

Location

Based in Manchester, with occasional travel across the North West for client work.
