An established and highly respected independent chartered accountancy practice is seeking a Semi-Senior Accountant to join its growing Sheffield office. Operating for over 40 years, the firm provides specialist accountancy, taxation and advisory services to SMEs, owner-managed businesses and clients within the creative, entertainment and property sectors across the UK and internationally. The practice has built a strong reputation for delivering tailored client solutions, long-term partnerships and commercially focused advice.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice accountant looking to progress their career within a supportive and forward-thinking firm. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a diverse client portfolio while developing technical expertise across accounts, tax and advisory services.
Key Responsibilities
Preparation of statutory accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships
Assisting with management accounts production and financial reporting
Preparation and submission of VAT returns
Supporting corporate and personal tax compliance work
Assisting senior team members with client portfolio management
Liaising directly with clients regarding bookkeeping and accounting queries
Working with cloud accounting software including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
Assisting with year-end accounts preparation and reconciliations
Supporting bookkeeping, payroll and ad-hoc finance projects where required
Ensuring client deadlines and compliance requirements are met accurately and efficiently
Candidate Requirements
AAT qualified or ACA / ACCA part-qualified
Previous experience within an accountancy practice environment
Strong understanding of accounts preparation and bookkeeping
Experience using cloud-based accounting software
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
Ability to manage workloads effectively and work to deadlines
Proactive approach with a strong client-service mindset
