Senior Practice Accountant – Preston (Accountancy Practice Role)

The Opportunity

This Senior Practice Accountant role in Preston offers a varied portfolio and strong client exposure. The successful candidate will work with a broad range of clients including SMEs, charities, sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of accounts preparation, audit, tax, and client advisory work, alongside mentoring junior staff.


Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of statutory accounts for a wide range of clients
  • Leading audit assignments, including supervising junior team members
  • Producing management accounts (monthly and quarterly)
  • Preparing complex VAT returns across different schemes
  • Completion of corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Supporting and mentoring junior accountants and trainees
  • Building client relationships and supporting business development activities
  • Representing the firm at networking and industry events

Requirements

  • ACA qualified (or equivalent) – essential
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an accountancy practice
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with practice software (e.g. Digita) is advantageous
  • Confident in leading audits and reviewing work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills
