Senior Practice Accountant – Preston (Accountancy Practice Role)

The Opportunity
This Senior Practice Accountant role in Preston offers a varied portfolio and strong client exposure. The successful candidate will work with a broad range of clients including SMEs, charities, sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of accounts preparation, audit, tax, and client advisory work, alongside mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation and review of statutory accounts for a wide range of clients
- Leading audit assignments, including supervising junior team members
- Producing management accounts (monthly and quarterly)
- Preparing complex VAT returns across different schemes
- Completion of corporation tax and personal tax returns
- Supporting and mentoring junior accountants and trainees
- Building client relationships and supporting business development activities
- Representing the firm at networking and industry events
Requirements
- ACA qualified (or equivalent) – essential
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an accountancy practice
- Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office
- Experience with practice software (e.g. Digita) is advantageous
- Confident in leading audits and reviewing work
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organisation and time management skills
