About the Role

A veterinary practice is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a friendly and experienced small animal team in Edinburgh.

The position would suit an RVN who enjoys general practice, one-to-one nursing and developing strong relationships with clients, while working within a collaborative clinical team.

The preferred working pattern is 31.17 hours per week, comprising three days from 8:30am–6:30pm, plus 1 in 3 Saturday mornings from 8:30am–12:00pm. Full-time hours of 41.17 hours per week can also be discussed.

There are no out-of-hours requirements, and applications are welcomed from both experienced and newly qualified RVNs.

About the Practice

The practice provides community-focused small animal veterinary care from a well-established location in Morningside, Edinburgh, with links to another local practice in East Lothian.

The team is experienced, supportive and focused on providing personalised first-opinion care. Nurses have the opportunity to build relationships with clients and take an active role in their patients' ongoing treatment and wellbeing.

The location offers easy access to Edinburgh's shops, cafés and amenities while also being within reach of the surrounding coastline and countryside.

Professional development is encouraged, with CPD and training support available alongside opportunities for longer-term career progression.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering high-quality nursing care to small animal patients

  • Providing one-to-one nursing and patient support

  • Supporting general first-opinion consultations and procedures

  • Assisting Veterinary Surgeons with medical and surgical cases

  • Monitoring patients throughout treatment and recovery

  • Supporting patient admissions and discharges

  • Building strong relationships with clients

  • Providing clear advice and guidance to pet owners

  • Maintaining accurate clinical records

  • Working collaboratively with the wider veterinary team

  • Maintaining high standards of patient welfare and clinical care

  • Participating in the 1 in 3 Saturday morning rota

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse, or an eligible newly qualified RVN, with enthusiasm for small animal general practice.

Both newly qualified and experienced nurses are encouraged to apply, making this an opportunity that can accommodate different stages of a veterinary nursing career.

You should enjoy building relationships with clients and working closely with patients throughout their care.

A full driving licence is essential for this position.
