About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join a friendly and professional team in Galashiels, Scottish Borders.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, alongside an equal share of the Saturday morning rota. Importantly, there are no out-of-hours requirements, supporting a positive work-life balance.
The position focuses on small animal nursing duties within a multi-species practice and offers the opportunity to provide high-quality first-opinion care to a loyal and established client base.
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 DOE
Location: Galashiels, Scottish Borders
Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday; shared Saturday morning rota; no OOH

The practice provides first-opinion veterinary services from a multi-species branch in Galashiels, with this position specifically focused on small animal nursing.
The team is committed to delivering excellent clinical care while maintaining strong relationships with a loyal, long-standing client base.
The working environment is friendly, professional and collaborative, with ongoing CPD and training support available to help nurses maintain and develop their clinical skills.
Located in the Scottish Borders, Galashiels provides access to attractive countryside while remaining well connected to Edinburgh and the wider region.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality nursing care to small animal patients
Supporting Veterinary Surgeons with consultations and procedures
Assisting with medical and surgical cases
Monitoring patients throughout procedures and recovery
Supporting patient admissions and discharges
Providing compassionate care to hospitalised patients
Communicating clearly with clients regarding patient care
Maintaining accurate clinical records
Supporting effective infection control and clinical hygiene
Working collaboratively with the wider veterinary team
Maintaining high standards of animal welfare
Keeping professional knowledge and CPD requirements up to date
Participating in the shared Saturday morning rota
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate must be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with a caring, enthusiastic and professional approach to small animal nursing.
You should be committed to providing excellent first-opinion patient and client care and enjoy working as part of a supportive veterinary team.
Applicants must be up to date with their CPD requirements and confident maintaining appropriate professional and clinical standards.
Strong communication, organisation and teamwork skills will be important, alongside a genuine commitment to animal welfare.
