About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) or Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN) in Leicester, offering up to £30,000 DOE and a supportive, collaborative working environment.
This is a varied nursing role for someone who wants to make full use of their clinical skills while developing professionally. Duties will span theatre, preparation, recovery, inpatient care, nurse consultations, laboratory work, phlebotomy and Schedule 3 procedures.
The role offers 40 hours per week, with flexibility to consider a 4-day working week, shifts between 8:30am and 7:00pm, and no current weekend or out-of-hours requirements.
There is also an excellent opportunity for nurses with an interest in exotic species, working alongside an experienced exotics vet and broadening their clinical experience.
About the Practice
The practice is a welcoming small animal veterinary environment with a close-knit team and strong clinical and operational support.
It is an approved Veterinary Nurse Training Practice and holds ISFM Silver Cat Friendly accreditation, while working towards Dog Friendly Practice status.
The team places a strong emphasis on compassionate patient care, professional development and maintaining a positive workplace culture. Nurses are encouraged to develop their skills, pursue further qualifications and contribute ideas.
The practice also provides access to a varied caseload, with opportunities to work alongside both small animal and exotic species clinicians.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care across a varied small animal caseload.
Deliver nurse consultations and support clients with appropriate advice and education.
Provide inpatient care, including monitoring and ongoing patient support.
Assist with theatre, preparation and recovery.
Perform laboratory work and phlebotomy.
Undertake appropriate Schedule 3 procedures within the scope of your training and experience.
Support high standards of infection control and clinical care.
Build positive relationships with clients and provide compassionate support during challenging situations.
Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider nursing team.
Contribute to the training and development of student nurses where appropriate.
Develop clinical interests through CPD and further qualifications.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an RVN or SVN with an interest in small animal veterinary nursing and a genuine passion for delivering excellent patient care.
They should be confident, proactive and keen to make full use of their nursing skills within a varied clinical environment.
An interest in exotic species would be advantageous, although it is not essential.
The successful candidate will ideally:
Be an RVN or SVN with relevant veterinary nursing experience or training.
Be confident working within a busy veterinary environment.
Have excellent communication and client-care skills.
Be kind, honest, reliable and supportive.
Enjoy working collaboratively within a close-knit team.
Be keen to develop their clinical skills and pursue further qualifications.
Have an interest in becoming a Clinical Coach and supporting future veterinary nurses, where desirable.
Compensation & Benefits
