About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) to join an experienced and supportive small animal nursing team in Perth, Perthshire.
This is a full-time position working 40 hours per week over 5 days, although a 4-day working week may also be considered. There is no scheduled out-of-hours work, offering a strong work-life balance alongside a varied clinical nursing role.
The position follows a rotational rota covering wards, theatre and consultations, with responsibilities including inpatient care, surgical preparation, pharmacy duties and nurse-led clinical work. There is also the opportunity to become involved in hydrotherapy, with training available.
Salary: Up to £31,000 DOE
Location: Perth, Perthshire
Schedule: 40 hours per week over 5 days; 4-day week considered; no scheduled OOH

About the Practice
The practice is a well-equipped, RCVS-accredited small animal practice with a strong emphasis on evidence-based medicine, professional development and making full use of veterinary nurses' clinical skills.
The nursing team consists of 12 nurses with a broad range of clinical interests, providing a supportive environment for sharing knowledge and developing additional skills.
Alongside conventional first-opinion veterinary services, facilities include an in-ground hydrotherapy pool, complemented by physiotherapy, acupuncture and pain clinics. Nurses are encouraged to become actively involved in these services, with hydrotherapy training available where desired.
Clinical development is strongly supported, with CPD, certificates and further qualifications actively encouraged and funded.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering high-quality nursing care to small animal patients
Providing inpatient and ward-based nursing care
Supporting Veterinary Surgeons during theatre procedures
Preparing patients and equipment for surgery
Monitoring anaesthesia and postoperative recovery
Running and supporting nursing consultations
Undertaking Schedule 3 procedures where appropriate
Supporting pharmacy and medication management
Maintaining accurate clinical records
Contributing to evidence-based clinical standards
Supporting excellent infection control and patient welfare
Participating in hydrotherapy where appropriate and desired
Working collaboratively with the wider veterinary team
Contributing ideas to improve patient care and team wellbeing
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Nurse with a passion for delivering excellent patient care and a positive, enthusiastic approach to clinical nursing.
Extensive experience is not essential, making the opportunity suitable for both developing and more experienced RVNs. Support will be available to help the successful candidate build confidence and progress their clinical skills.
You should enjoy working across a varied caseload and be keen to use the full range of your nursing abilities.
An interest in Schedule 3 procedures, hydrotherapy, rehabilitation or further clinical qualifications would be welcomed but is not essential.
