About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, to join a progressive 24-hour small animal hospital with a diverse medical and surgical caseload.
The position offers a 40-hour, 4-day working week with just 1 in 6 weekends and time off in lieu, providing an attractive working pattern within a hospital environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an RVN who wants to fully utilise their clinical nursing skills while gaining exposure to advanced surgery, soft tissue cases, orthopaedics, dentistry and inpatient care.

About the Practice
The practice is a well-established 24-hour small animal hospital in Shrewsbury, providing continuous care for both incoming cases and hospitalised patients.
Facilities include two operating theatre suites, one of which is dedicated to more advanced surgical procedures, alongside a dedicated dental suite and five consulting rooms.
Separate canine and feline wards support high standards of inpatient care and provide a more appropriate environment for different patient needs.
The varied caseload includes soft tissue and orthopaedic cases, providing excellent opportunities for RVNs interested in developing their theatre, surgical and hospital nursing experience.
A supportive and collaborative clinical culture encourages Veterinary Nurses to contribute their knowledge and utilise their skills across the hospital.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality nursing care to small animal patients.
Support Veterinary Surgeons across medical and surgical cases.
Provide comprehensive inpatient and ward nursing.
Monitor anaesthesia during routine and advanced procedures.
Assist with soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.
Support dental procedures and associated patient care.
Prepare patients and theatres for surgical procedures.
Monitor patients throughout treatment and recovery.
Contribute to the care of emergency and hospitalised patients.
Maintain accurate clinical and nursing records.
Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.
Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons and nursing colleagues.
Maintain consistently high standards of patient welfare.
Participate in the 1 in 6 weekend rota.
Engage with CPD and ongoing professional development.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse who:
Holds current RCVS registration.
Has strong general small animal nursing skills.
Is confident with medical, surgical and inpatient nursing.
Enjoys working with a varied and challenging caseload.
Has an interest in advanced surgical and orthopaedic nursing.
Is comfortable working within a 24-hour hospital environment.
Has excellent communication and client-care skills.
