About the Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse to join a friendly and progressive small animal practice in St Helens, Merseyside. This role offers a salary from £27,000 pro rata (DOE, negotiable) alongside strong clinical support, a varied nursing rota, and excellent work-life balance.

This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, including 1 in 3 Saturdays (9:00am–5:00pm). The practice is closed on Sundays with no out-of-hours requirements, allowing for a healthy and sustainable schedule.

The nursing team plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of the practice, with genuine opportunities to develop skills across multiple areas of nursing responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver excellent patient and client care across all nursing duties

  • Manage theatre nursing, inpatient care, and anaesthetic monitoring

  • Support nurse consultations, triage appointments, and patient admissions/discharges

  • Assist with radiography and laboratory work

  • Work collaboratively with the wider clinical team

  • Take ownership of daily tasks and responsibilities

  • Maintain professional standards and compliance with practice policies

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN)

  • Strong general nursing experience within small animal practice

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Proactive, organised, and forward-thinking approach

  • Passionate about animal welfare and high clinical standards

  • Positive team player who enjoys working within a close-knit team

  • Committed to ongoing professional development
