Location: Wrexham, North Wales
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience (from £20,000 - £30,000)

Weekend: 1 in 6 Saturdays, 8:30am–6:30pm, with time off in lieu
Bank Holidays: Shared rota at a nearby 24/7 hospital

About the Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Veterinary Nurse in Wrexham, North Wales, to join a friendly and growing small animal veterinary practice.

The position offers a 40-hour, 4-day working week, with just 1 in 6 Saturdays and time off in lieu, providing an attractive working pattern for an RVN seeking a strong work-life balance.

About the Practice

The practice is a growing small animal veterinary clinic in Wrexham, providing high-quality clinical care to pets and their owners across North Wales and the surrounding areas.

Continued investment and planned expansion will increase both operating theatre and consultation capacity, allowing the clinical team to manage a growing and varied caseload.

The nursing team is encouraged to contribute fully to patient care, providing excellent opportunities for RVNs to utilise and develop their clinical skills.

The practice also works alongside a nearby 24/7 veterinary hospital, with a shared Bank Holiday rota providing additional exposure to a hospital environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to small animal patients.

  • Support Veterinary Surgeons across consultations and procedures.

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient and recovery care.

  • Monitor anaesthesia and assist during surgical procedures.

  • Prepare patients, theatres and equipment for procedures.

  • Support nurse-led appointments where appropriate.

  • Maintain high standards of infection control and clinical hygiene.

  • Monitor patients throughout treatment and recovery.

  • Maintain accurate clinical and nursing records.

  • Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients.

  • Work collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons and nursing colleagues.

  • Maintain consistently high standards of patient welfare.

  • Participate in the 1 in 6 Saturday rota.

  • Participate in the shared Bank Holiday rota at a nearby 24/7 hospital.

  • Engage with CPD and ongoing professional development.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a Registered Veterinary Nurse who:

  • Holds current RCVS registration.

  • Is either newly qualified or an experienced RVN.

  • Is passionate about delivering excellent patient care.

  • Has good communication and client-care skills.

  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a clinical team.

  • Wants to fully utilise and develop their nursing capabilities.

  • Is proactive, compassionate and well organised.

  • Is enthusiastic about continued learning and professional development.

  • Is comfortable participating in weekend and Bank Holiday rotas.
