About the Practice

This established specialty and emergency veterinary centre in Little Rock, Arkansas provides advanced referral care for small animals throughout the region.

The modern 8,500 sq. ft. facility is equipped with advanced veterinary technology, including:

  • Digital radiology

  • CT scanner

  • Ultrasound

  • Intensive care and oxygen units

  • Advanced laboratory diagnostics

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced internal medicine consultations and patient assessments

  • Perform comprehensive examinations and medical work-ups

  • Diagnose and manage complex internal medicine cases

  • Develop treatment plans and communicate recommendations clearly with clients

  • Educate pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and ongoing care

  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient documentation

  • Prescribe medications while following pharmacy and controlled substance protocols

  • Collaborate with emergency clinicians, specialists, technicians, and support staff

  • Promote teamwork and efficient patient care practices

  • Monitor hospitalised patients and participate in case reviews and rounds

  • Support clinical protocols and quality standards throughout the hospital

  • Participate in professional development, training, and practice improvement initiatives

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited institution

  • Completion of a 1-year rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, emergency medicine, or equivalent referral environment

  • Completion of a 3-year AVMA-approved residency programme in Small Animal Internal Medicine

  • Board Certification or eligibility preferred

  • Active veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain one

  • DEA registration or ability to obtain and maintain registration

  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary veterinary team

  • Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based patient care

Ideal candidates will have 2–5 years of post-residency experience, although exceptional residency-trained candidates will also be considered.
