Responsibilities
The Veterinary Cardiologist will be responsible for:
Providing advanced cardiology consultations, diagnostics, and treatment plans.
Performing comprehensive patient evaluations and medical assessments.
Communicating diagnostic findings and treatment recommendations clearly with clients and referring veterinarians.
Maintaining accurate medical records and detailed patient documentation.
Prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols.
Collaborating with emergency clinicians, specialists, and primary care veterinarians.
Supporting efficient patient care processes and hospital protocols.
Participating in clinical discussions, team meetings, and ongoing professional development.
Promoting teamwork and maintaining a high standard of specialist veterinary care.
Supporting a positive, collaborative hospital culture.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school.
Completion of a 1-year rotating internship in small animal medicine, surgery, emergency, or a university/large referral practice setting.
Completion of a 3-year AVMA-approved veterinary cardiology residency programme.
Current veterinary licence or eligibility to obtain licensure.
DEA registration or ability to obtain and maintain registration.
Board certification preferred.
2-5 years of post-residency experience preferred.
Strong diagnostic and clinical skills.
Excellent communication and client relationship-building abilities.
A commitment to compassionate, high-quality specialist care.
The ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary veterinary team.
