About the Role
A veterinary practice is seeking an experienced Veterinary Medical Director to lead its clinical team in Los Angeles, California.
The position offers an outstanding $170,000–$250,000 base salary, plus production, Medical Director bonus and additional performance bonus opportunities, alongside relocation assistance and a comprehensive benefits package.

This is a full-service small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive general practice alongside progressive treatment options.
Clinical services include wellness and diagnostic medicine, advanced dentistry and regenerative therapies, allowing veterinarians to develop individualised treatment plans for a varied patient caseload.
The practice offers access to progressive treatment modalities including laser therapy, regenerative medicine and acupuncture, alongside traditional veterinary medicine.

Responsibilities
Provide clinical leadership and establish consistently high standards of veterinary care across the hospital.
Develop, implement and maintain appropriate medical protocols and clinical best practices.
Continue practising veterinary medicine while supporting the management of complex clinical cases.
Mentor, coach and develop veterinarians, helping clinicians strengthen their medical skills and progress professionally.
Monitor clinical outcomes and identify opportunities to improve patient care, efficiency and medical quality.
Collaborate with hospital management and wider leadership teams on strategic initiatives, operational challenges and practice growth opportunities.
Support effective client communication standards and assist with complex cases or client concerns where appropriate.
Promote a positive, collaborative hospital culture that supports professional development, accountability and excellent patient care.
Represent the veterinary team in relevant professional, clinical and regulatory matters.
Candidate Profile
Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent, with a California veterinary licence in good standing and current DEA registration.
Ideally, candidates will have 3–5 years of clinical veterinary experience, with previous leadership, mentoring or team development experience highly desirable.
The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent clinical skills and comprehensive knowledge of small animal veterinary medicine.
Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities are essential, alongside the confidence to mentor veterinarians and guide clinical standards.
Candidates should also demonstrate sound commercial awareness and an understanding of veterinary practice operations.
Previous experience with practice management, strategic development or team leadership would be advantageous.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $170,000–$250,000 per year
