About the Practice

This is a full-service small animal veterinary hospital in Nantucket, MA, providing both general practice and urgent care services.

The hospital treats a diverse range of patients including dogs, cats, pocket pets, reptiles, birds, and fish, offering comprehensive care such as wellness exams, sick consultations, surgery, dentistry, diagnostics, acupuncture, and urgent care services.

The practice benefits from being part of a larger veterinary community network, combining a local, community-focused approach with access to national-level clinical resources, technology, and professional support.

Operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., supporting a balanced and predictable schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and medical direction across the hospital

  • Support and mentor veterinarians and clinical staff

  • Drive continuous improvement in patient care and clinical standards

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and practice management on strategy and operations

  • Oversee quality assurance and medical decision-making frameworks

  • Promote a positive, supportive, and high-performing team culture

  • Contribute to complex case management and advanced clinical decision-making

  • Support recruitment, training, and professional development of veterinary staff

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree

  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in Massachusetts, in good standing

  • Active DEA license or eligibility required

  • Strong clinical experience in small animal or mixed veterinary practice

  • Previous leadership experience preferred but not essential for the right candidate

  • Confident communicator with strong mentoring and team development skills

  • Passionate about clinical excellence, patient care, and hospital growth

  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
