About the Role

An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Alsager, Cheshire, to join an established standalone small animal practice offering genuine clinical freedom, flexible working and an excellent work-life balance.

The practice can accommodate full-time or part-time hours, with flexibility around the preferred working days. The current preference is for Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, although alternative arrangements can be discussed.

The role includes just 1 in 4 Saturday mornings from 9am–12pm, with no Sunday or out-of-hours work.

With up to £60,000 FTE, strong clinical support and the freedom to manage cases in the way you feel is appropriate, this is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Surgeon looking for autonomy alongside a supportive team environment.

About the Practice

The role is based within a standalone small animal practice in Alsager, Cheshire, situated in a spacious and modern premises with a strong connection to the local community.

The practice is equipped with digital X-ray, ultrasound, blood pressure monitoring and in-house laboratory facilities, providing the resources required to manage a varied first-opinion caseload.

The experienced team includes three Veterinary Surgeons, supported by three RVNs, an SVN and two reception colleagues. The clinical team includes experienced Veterinary Surgeons who can provide support and mentoring, alongside a Vet with a particular interest in exotics.

The practice has a strong focus on professional development and can support CPD and certificate training, including development in areas such as surgery, wound management and radiography.

The practice has also been recognised as an Autism Friendly Surgery, reflecting its commitment to creating an inclusive environment for both colleagues and clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality first-opinion small animal veterinary care.

  • Manage a varied medical and surgical caseload.

  • Carry out routine consultations and surgical procedures.

  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.

  • Take clinical ownership of cases while working collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Utilise diagnostic equipment effectively, including digital X-ray and ultrasound.

  • Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care.

  • Contribute to a positive and supportive practice culture.

  • Participate in CPD and ongoing professional development.

  • Develop areas of particular clinical interest with appropriate support.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with:

  • Strong general small animal medical and surgical skills.
