About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a progressive small animal veterinary practice in Blackburn, Lancashire.
The position is ideally suited to a vet with 3+ years' post-qualification experience who enjoys a varied and challenging caseload, with a particular interest in surgery and the treatment of sick and injured patients.
The role offers an excellent 38-hour, four-day working week, with just 2 in 9 Saturdays, alongside funded professional development and an extensive benefits package.

About the Practice
The practice is a busy and well-equipped small animal veterinary facility offering an excellent environment for experienced vets looking to develop their clinical and surgical capabilities.
Facilities include three operating theatres, a dedicated dental suite with dental X-ray and seven consulting rooms, providing the clinical team with the resources required to manage a broad range of cases.
The practice sees a diverse caseload with a significant volume of surgical work, including orthopaedic cases, alongside the treatment of sick and injured patients and routine first-opinion work.
Veterinary surgeons work within a supportive and inclusive environment where collaboration and shared responsibility are encouraged, with a strong focus on maintaining high clinical standards.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities will include:
Providing high-quality medical and surgical care to small animal patients
Managing a varied first-opinion caseload
Assessing, diagnosing and treating sick and injured patients
Performing routine and more complex surgical procedures in line with experience
Contributing to a substantial surgical caseload, including exposure to orthopaedic cases
Conducting consultations and diagnostic investigations
Developing appropriate treatment plans for individual patients
Communicating clearly and compassionately with pet owners
Working collaboratively with veterinary surgeons, nurses and the wider clinical team
Maintaining accurate clinical records and professional standards
Participating in the Saturday rota
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon, ideally with at least three years' post-qualification experience.
They should be confident managing a diverse small animal caseload and comfortable with both consulting and surgical work.
The opportunity would particularly suit a veterinary surgeon looking to further develop their surgical capabilities within a practice offering exposure to a high volume of cases, including orthopaedics.
Strong communication skills, a collaborative approach and a commitment to excellent patient care are essential.
