About the Role

An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon in Bradford-on-Avon, Wiltshire, joining a well-established multi-site first opinion practice with a strong clinical team and excellent professional development opportunities.

This permanent Veterinary Surgeon position offers a salary of up to £75,000 FTE depending on experience, with full-time and part-time options available.

Full-time applicants can work across 4 or 5 days, while the part-time option is approximately 21 hours per week. There are no night duties, with participation in a weekend daytime rota.

The role provides exposure to first opinion consultations, inpatient care, medical work-ups, and surgery, making it well suited to an experienced Veterinary Surgeon seeking a varied caseload and strong clinical support.

This established multi-site small animal practice has been serving the local community for decades, with a main site and several branch practices across Wiltshire.

The practice has a highly experienced clinical team, including certificate holders in surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, and dermatology.

The practice provides a broad range of first opinion veterinary services, from routine health checks and preventative care through to medical investigations, inpatient management, and surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality first opinion veterinary care

  • Conduct routine and complex consultations

  • Manage a varied medical and surgical caseload

  • Participate in inpatient care and patient monitoring

  • Carry out comprehensive medical work-ups

  • Perform routine surgical procedures

  • Undertake diagnostic investigations and develop appropriate treatment plans

  • Build strong and lasting relationships with clients

  • Work collaboratively with Veterinary Nurses and support staff

  • Share clinical knowledge and support colleagues

  • Maintain high standards of patient welfare and clinical care

  • Contribute to continuous improvement and clinical development

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a strong first opinion foundation and the confidence to manage a varied caseload.

Applicants should ideally have 3–4 years' veterinary experience and demonstrate:

  • Strong clinical and diagnostic skills

  • Confidence managing medical and surgical cases

  • Experience with inpatient care and medical work-ups

  • Excellent communication and client care skills

  • A commitment to professional development

  • A collaborative and supportive approach

  • The ability to work with clinical autonomy
