​Veterinary Surgeon – Small Animal

Location: Dartford, Kent
Schedule: Full Time (4 days per week or 3 days considered, 12-hour shifts, 1 in 4 weekends with time off in lieu)
Salary: Up to £90,000 per year DOE

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon (Small Animal) to join a progressive, independent 24-hour hospital in Dartford. This role is ideal for a vet with 2+ years’ experience looking to develop their career within a well-equipped, high-performing clinical environment.

The successful candidate will manage a varied and engaging caseload, with a mix of routine and more complex cases. There is a preference for a medicine bias, although all interests are supported. Working alongside certificate holders, this position offers excellent exposure to advanced procedures and clinical development.

The role offers flexibility with full-time hours across 4 days, or 3 days per week considered, alongside a 1 in 4 weekend rota with time off in lieu, supporting a strong work-life balance.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality care across a varied small animal caseload

  • Perform routine surgical procedures and medical case work-ups

  • Collaborate with certificate holders and experienced colleagues

  • Maintain excellent client communication and relationships

  • Contribute to clinical development and continuous improvement within the team

Candidate Profile

  • RCVS registered Veterinary Surgeon

  • Minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience

  • Confident in routine surgery and medical case management

  • Interest in medicine (desirable but not essential)

  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills

  • Motivated and eager to develop clinically
